Description

The monkey blade of the White Tigers' youngest member, and the first rival bit-beast the Bladebreakers meet abroad. Galman's Crazy Monkey splits its image into a ring of phantom blades that confuses opponents into striking thin air, a trick Kevin uses to steal Driger's bit-chip data during the Hong Kong street battles. Kevin never gets a tournament match against the Bladebreakers, but his theft is what sets up Driger's crisis of faith in Ray.

Kevin fights with Galman, a Defense Spin Gear System top built from a Galman Bit Chip, a War Monkey Attack Ring, an Eight Heavy Weight Disk, a Right Spin Gear and an SG Sharp Blade Base; the Attack Ring is listed at 6 grams, the Weight Disk at 15 grams and the Blade Base at 7 grams.

Parts in detail

SlotPartWeightSpinNote
Attack Ring War Monkey 5.6 total Mold 1 / 6.3 total Mold 2 g Left (favored); Right (weak) A four-winged ring weak and recoil-prone in right spin, but excellent in left spin thanks to its rounded monkey-head leading edges, which give it low recoil for survival, spin-stealing/zombie, and defensive-zombie builds; long overshadowed by War Lion but collectors argue it holds genuine advantages of its own, particularly broader contact-point coverage.
Sub Attack Ring War Monkey SAR 1.9 g Relatively low recoil in either direction (though best avoided with anything smaller than Wide Defense in right spin), with excellent synergy on its own Core AR as well as War Lion and Hasbro's Twin Horn.
Weight Disk Eight Heavy 15.3 (regular mold) / 15.5 (indent mold) g The same lighter alternative to Ten Heavy used elsewhere in this batch, generally outclassed by it but still a fairly competitive backup.
Spin Gear Right Spin Gear 1.1 per shell + 1.12 optional Metal Weight Gear (shells) / 0.61 (Regular SG Core Part) g Right The same standard shell and lightweight core used on Galeon, theoretically the lightest practical option for many attack builds not needing Neo-core compatibility.
Blade Base SG Sharp Base 6.6 g A tall, sharp-tipped base with very poor stability, limiting it to a niche role in RPM-focused defense; outclassed by better alternatives such as Customize Metal Sharp Base in essentially every application.

Weights are single copies weighed on their own; a part can vary by a few tenths of a gram.

In play and in the story

Community opinion holds that the War Monkey Attack Ring offered strong defensive value in its day, though later Defense- and Survival-oriented tops have since surpassed it.

Community testing, Apr. 17, 2009 — summarised

The competitive view

The War Monkey attack ring is rated good for Defense and Survival thanks to a free-spinning sub-ring that absorbs recoil and offers modest spin-stealing, while it remains clearly outclassed by a rival ring in the same roles. The main and sub rings work together to form a fuller circular shape.

Condensed from community testing; competitive opinions are the community's, not ours, and may be out of date.
