How the rules got here

Every rulebook release, new format and ban list the World Beyblade Organization announced between 2008 and 2026, in order.

About this page

Organised Beyblade outside Japan has been run by the World Beyblade Organization since 2008, and it announced everything it did on its own news board. We read 493 of those announcements and condensed each into our own words, listing the concrete changes where there were any — a format opened, a part banned, a scoring system replaced. 40% carried a real change; the rest are milestones, prize draws and site rebuilds, kept for the record and marked as slight.

Titles are reproduced as the board printed them, with one exception: seven use a word this site does not print, and those are reworded to their sense. Read on September 19, 2026; every announcement links to worldbeyblade.org.

Upcoming changes to "painted blades" rule in WBO Beyblade X rules

The organization announced that its Beyblade X rulebook would change to forbid fully custom-painted or dyed blades by default, allowing only small non-contact markings, because the existing performance-based restriction was hard to enforce and custom paint was leaving marks on stadiums and other Beys; organizers could still opt in to allow painted blades if they committed to inspecting them.

    • Dyed blades likewise forbidden by default under the same rule change
    • A new optional rule added letting organizers permit fully painted blades if they inspect for performance effects
