About this page

The WBO's hobby board has taken questions since 2009 and answered them from ownership rather than theory. We read 1,341 of those discussions and condensed each into the question and the answer it reached, in our own words. 224 never got an answer at all and are not here: a question on its own is not knowledge.

The board marks a thread "Answered" when the asker is satisfied, which is a useful hint and not proof, so each one was read and judged: 84% genuinely agreed, and the rest are shown as still contested rather than dressed up as settled. Nothing in these records comes from us — where the discussion was wrong or incomplete, the record says what it said. Read on September 19, 2026; each answer links to its discussion.

Why won't a purchased battle pass connect to the companion app even though its code worked on one regional version of the app?

The battle pass needs a one-time pairing to the user's app account done from the correct pairing screen; the blinking green-and-yellow light is simply the device signaling that it's in pairing mode.

Whether orange spots that appeared on a DranSword are rust, since Beyblades were assumed not to be able to rust.

The orange spots are genuine iron oxide rust: Beyblade X parts are made of a zinc/aluminum alloy that carries trace iron, and this is a distinct process from the separate zinc/aluminum oxidation sometimes called fading; cleaning the rust off was recommended.

The poster could not separate their Variant Lucifer's chassis from the layer and could only remove the driver.

The chassis is meant to be pulled straight off the layer; pressing on the four metal tabs that connect it to the layer's ring was the specific technique that freed it, which the poster confirmed worked.

Why won't the string on a brand-new DB Power Launcher retract after launching a right-spin Beyblade, when it works fine for left-spin.

Replies floated a couple of possible causes -- the launcher's gears getting reversed if a left-spin bey is launched while the launcher is set to right-spin, or the unit simply arriving defective -- but no one confirmed which it actually was.

Does switching a Dynamite Ragnarok between High and Low DB mode roughly 15 times in one session cause any long-term harm to the bey?

No, the DB system is designed to be switched between High and Low Mode frequently, and doing so repeatedly does not affect the bey; switching height can also be used tactically to confuse an opponent.

An owner of a preowned, chipped Spriggan Requiem asked whether it was safe to repaint the God Chip and what colour to use.

Repainting is fine as long as the piece won't be used in WBO tournaments, where painted Beyblades are against the rules and only a thin layer of nail polish over stickers is allowed; one reply suggested a cool blue shade to match the part's original look.

Is there a brand or type of clear nail polish that won't lift the paint underneath Beyblade stickers?

Replies explained nail polish is a poor choice generally since common chemicals like toluene can damage the paint underneath, and recommended an outdoor-rated clear coat spray paint instead as a more durable, safer option, while adding that if nail polish is still preferred, brands marketed as free of harsh chemicals such as China Glaze or Pacifica are a somewhat safer bet though not guaranteed non-toxic.

Should a newly bought Ignition' driver be broken in before a tournament or kept in mint, unused condition?

The poster asked how many launches to expect from a Takara Tomy LR string launcher before the string frays, the gears skip, or the grip stops holding.

There is no fixed number since it depends heavily on the individual launcher and how it is used, but repliers reported hundreds of launches being realistic; left-spin mode tends to wear out first because of where its gears sit, and careful handling extends the launcher's life.

Whether a Beyblade and its launcher can get wet without breaking, rusting, or otherwise being damaged.

They should not be gotten wet: unless the metal parts are stainless or another rust-resistant metal, water exposure risks rust, and a launcher is especially at risk since its mostly plastic gears and string can house a metal spring inside.

How can a jammed Beylauncher LR, left in storage for two years, be freed without damaging its internal gears or springs.

If tournament legality isn't a concern, it can simply be kept as-is: the looseness actually improves life-after-death and it's unlikely to fall out unless pulled hard. A small dab of super glue was suggested as another option, though that would make it tournament-illegal.

Is there a way to clean a Burst Standard stadium so it regains the smooth, low-friction finish it had when new.

Wiping the stadium with a tennis ball to lift off rubber scuff marks and debris, then finishing with a microfiber cloth, was the recommended method; silicone spray was tried by at least one poster but wasn't universally endorsed.

  • Care and repair Burst Standard Aug 5, 2019

Someone whose Volcanic driver stopped stalling in the centre of the stadium after they applied silicone spray to try to speed up wearing it in asked whether it was now broken.

The driver wasn't broken; the sprayed-on silicone had simply worn off, since that method only gives a temporary effect and isn't allowed under WBO tournament rules. Angling the launcher to the side on release was suggested as a rule-legal way to help kick-start the same stalling movement.

How can skipping be stopped on a light-weight/LR string launcher?

Suggested fixes included pulling more gradually rather than yanking at full force from the start, and checking the small internal locking spring that clicks onto the launcher prongs — either blocking that mechanism entirely or bending the spring's spacing (warm water helps) so it engages the teeth fully; none of the fixes were confirmed to have solved the original poster's specific problem.

Why does a Hasbro Trans driver switch from Attack mode to Stamina mode mid-spin when launched with right spin, but stay locked in Attack mode with left spin?

A responder explained the small bump that holds the driver in Attack mode wears down over time, and that spin direction determines which way it is pushed, explaining the difference between left- and right-spin behaviour.

Do Burst performance tips wear out faster on a smooth wooden surface than in a plastic stadium.

Yes -- a smooth wood surface has more friction than a stadium's plastic floor, so tips wear down more quickly on it.

What's causing a TT B-88 LR String Launcher's gears to skip after only weeks of use, and can it be repaired?

No definite cause or fix was confirmed; the skipping was suspected to be linked either to general inconsistency in that Korean-market production batch or to damage from forcibly prying a stuck counterfeit layer off the launcher's prongs, though this was never verified, and the seller ultimately issued a refund rather than the problem being repaired.

A player asked whether there was any way to reduce or prevent gear skipping on the LR launchers included with certain Takara Tomy Beyblades.

There's no full fix, but cranking the launcher after the Beyblade is already attached was named as the number-one cause of premature wear and skipping, so avoiding that habit helps; heavier Beyblades were also noted as more skip-prone on these launchers than on string launchers.

How tight should a Metal Fight face bolt be turned when assembling a bey, and is there a reliable way to tell when it's tight enough?

There's no precise measurable method -- hand-tighten until it resists turning easily, then give it only a small extra twist with a tool; over-tightening risks shattering the bolt, either at the threads or where the stem meets the hexagon.

Whether Hasbro's version of Dranzer F's Flame Wing attack ring is tougher than Takara Tomy's.

No meaningful remolding was reported between the versions, so Hasbro's original blue Flame Wing is expected to be about as fragile as the Takara Tomy one, and at least one owner had broken theirs; the later, light-blue Metal Masters version might be even weaker since it can break at spots besides the wings, while a related BBA Championship Series batch appeared to use a slightly more durable plastic.

What's the best way to repair a broken old plastic-generation beyblade, and does gorilla glue work?

Regular gorilla glue was discouraged since it expands as it cures; posters suggested a super-glue or epoxy variant instead for a non-tournament repair, while noting that gluing any part disqualifies it from tournament use. One poster suggested simply retiring a badly broken piece as a keepsake rather than repairing it.

How can peeling stickers on a Genesis Valtryek be kept from falling off?

Coating the stickers with clear nail polish helps stop them peeling; gluing them down first isn't allowed for tournament play since any added substance on the Beyblade makes it illegal, so clear nail polish alone is the workaround.

Is visible damage on a Drain Fafnir layer's rubber too severe for the part to remain tournament legal?

Minor damage limited to the rubber contact points is not a concern and the part can keep being used; only cracking or chipping of the plastic itself should retire a layer, and it should still hold up for more tournaments as is.

An owner of a new left-spin string launcher whose Beyblade kept bursting instantly on contact asked why, suspecting a defective launcher.

Suggested checks included testing by hand whether the launcher clicks properly, a sign the internal teeth aren't broken, and trying a lighter launch, since this launcher is unusually heavy and increases recoil; it was also noted that its strong attack power inherently trades off against burst-prone teeth, and that a proper left-spin string launcher, rather than the small stock launcher being used, was recommended.

How can a string-launcher's pull be made smoother when the string keeps sticking halfway.

Open the launcher and check for stripped gears and an obstructed string path, then lightly mist the inside with silicone spray as a lubricant if needed (noted as not tournament legal), or disassemble further and rewind the spring assembly wheel along its marked winding direction; the original poster confirmed this resolved the sticking.

Why the poster's Beyblade launchers keep breaking.

Several factors were offered: Takara Tomy's gear and string quality can be a weak point, a launcher can fail as a blader's ripping strength grows (particularly noted around puberty), and one poster argued launchers are deliberately not built to withstand prolonged heavy use as part of the sales model; Light Launchers in particular were said to wear out with heavy use.

How can gear skipping in an LR Light Launcher and a Red Sword Launcher be fixed or prevented?

It was attributed to a worn prong, with the only legal fixes being to replace the prong from another launcher or buy a new launcher entirely; wrapping tape around the inside of the prong was mentioned as an unsanctioned workaround that is not tournament-legal.

Is it a sign of damage that the free-spinning part of a Revolve tip leans slightly to one side.

No, a slight lean is considered normal for Revolve; if it bothers the owner, popping off the outer disk to clean it or tilting it and re-launching a few times can settle it further.

Brasso metal polish followed by a soap-water wash was recommended as effective, with nail polish remover or paint thinner suggested for leftover residue and a light coat of museum wax to prevent future oxidation; whether polishing counted as an illegal modification was raised but left open.

Is it normal and worthwhile to clean plastic and rubber drivers, along with the stadium?

Yes, cleaning parts and the stadium is normal and helps performance and hygiene, though a little built-up stadium residue on rubber drivers can actually help stamina and loosen an overly tight flower pattern, so light cleaning is largely a matter of preference.

Is it legal, or even possible without damage, to remove the "teeth" from a genuine Takara Tomy Burst layer to reduce wear.

It's not legal, and removing the teeth isn't really achievable without destroying the layer, since the teeth are what hold the bey together against bursting; some posters added that even dual and god layers can still show tooth wear over time despite improvements.

Why does a Nepstrius bey just spin in place on a super grip launcher instead of releasing properly, and is an indent in the layer's center a sign of a defect?

This is a known issue with the free-spinning style of launcher used, made more likely on lighter-disc beys like Nepstrius than heavier ones; it can be fixed by adding a small piece of tape to the launcher, and the indent in the layer is normal, not a fault.

Why does a Beyblade from a Burst Rivals set keep falling off the launcher and failing to launch properly?

A bey that keeps falling off usually isn't seated firmly enough: twist it on just until it sets rather than forcing a hard click, and push it fully onto the prongs; moving the arm smoothly through the launch rather than jerking it also matters, since jittery motion shakes the bey loose. One blader traced their own issue to having the ripcord inserted the wrong way round.

What causes a left string launcher's string to stop retracting and make clicking noises when pushed back in, and how can it be fixed?

A string that won't retract usually means the internal spring has snapped, or the plastic piece holding the spring gear in place has broken and let the gear uncoil; opening and reassembling the launcher, or checking repair videos, was suggested as the fix.
