Beyblade: Metal Masters (video game)

Beyblade: Metal Masters, titled Metal Fight Beyblade: Choujou Kessen! Big Bang Bladers in Japan, is the fourth Metal Saga DS game and the series' first main entry built as a 2D fighting game rather than a top-down battler. Set after the anime's World Championship, a mysterious figure named Agito invites 37 playable characters to a new tournament at 'Dyna Cemetery,' with Arcade and Battle Modes, over 30 usable fighters, wireless 2-player play, and codes that unlock real Hasbro Beyblade parts in-game.

What to know

  • First main-series Beyblade game built around a 2D side-scrolling fighting-game format (with minor precedent Top Blade V).
  • 37 total playable characters (35 usable in Arcade Mode) and 46 playable Beyblades.
  • The US release shipped as five separate SKUs, four bundled with an exclusive Beyblade: Nightmare Rex SW145SD, Bakushin Susanow 90WF, Vulcan Horuseus 145D, or Ultimate Gravity Destroyer GB145S Stamina Ver.
  • Story splits into individual character paths (Gingka, Tsubasa, Masamune, etc.) all converging on defeating Agito and his Dino Agito form.
  • Real Hasbro Beyblade codes unlock matching in-game parts, and Light Wheel Beyblades (e.g. Sol Blaze, Dark Poseidon) were kept in the English localization despite regional exclusivity elsewhere.

  • Helios appears as a playable character despite his source film never being dubbed into English or released outside Japan.
  • 'Horuseus' is mistranslated as 'Holeseus' throughout the English version.
  • Progress can link back to Beyblade: Metal Fusion on DS to unlock additional parts based on that game's completion state.
