In the Beyblade Burst continuity, an Avatar is the spirit form that lives inside a Beyblade and appears near the climax of a battle once the bond between Blader and top grows strong enough. The writers tie each Avatar's colour, personality and even voice to the Blader who owns it, so a shy Blader's Avatar behaves differently from an aggressive one. Three distinct bonds appear across the five Burst series: a guardian-style Resonance shared by the six lead protagonists, a possession-based bond that consumes Shu Kurenai's identity as Spriggan takes over, and a destruction-driven bond claimed by antagonists such as Phi and Arthur Peregrine. The concept plays the same narrative role the Bit-Beasts filled in the original trilogy and the Beyspirits filled in the Metal Saga.
