Biography

Yugo Nansui is Xander Shakadera's confident, honor-bound right-hand man at the Sword Flames dojo, aiming to become a true samurai-blader. He guards Xander from challengers, insisting rivals get through him first, and reacts with fury when Daigo Kurogami admits to cheating against him. Loyal to his teammates and easily riled when someone breaks the rules, he mellows over time, forgiving Daigo and welcoming Ukio Kibuki after Quon Limon leaves the dojo. He battles with his Yegdrion/Yugen Yegdrion beyblades, losing several close matches to Valt Aoi, Wakiya Murasaki, and Shu Kurenai.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Yugo's brown hair is cut into a yellow mohawk, and he has brown eyes along with a bandage placed under his left eye. His jacket is green, with black-and-red checkerboard trim running across the top of the sleeves, worn over a white t-shirt, and his trousers match the jacket. His shoes are black and white.

Confidence runs deep in Yugo, and he turns notably formal and focused once a battle starts, in keeping with his wish to carry himself like a samurai. That same intensity has a hot-tempered edge, and losing sits badly with him. He can seem distant, but underneath it he is fiercely loyal to his team and treats being a blader as a serious calling; as Xander's right-hand man, he insists that any challenger face him before they can reach Xander. Fair play matters greatly to him too — when Daigo admitted to cheating in a match, Yugo's fury nearly turned violent, and only Ukio's intervention kept him from hurting Daigo.

Quotes

In Their Own Words

  • Nice to meet you. I heard that the runner up from the tournament was coming here, so I've been keeping an eye on you. Just wanted to see what all the fuss was about. You're kinda clumsy.
  • I can't believe you fell for those simple obstacles. I mean, seriously... Sorry, you're no samurai.
  • All right! Up here, I'm gonna be the one in charge. Doesn't matter if you're old friends! I'm Xander's right-hand man!
  • They're not 'pricklies', okay? They're spikes!
  • Here's the deal, kid. I don't have to get you. In this stadium, I just have to Burst you!
  • Getting worked up doesn't suit your face, just so you know.
  • It's no use. This match belongs to me.
  • The Shadow-Walker doesn't usually show himself, so we don't always know where he is.
  • Xander and Quon are good friends, but I'd say they're even better rivals.
  • Quon's the ice to Xander's flame. They were always competing against each other. Always pushing each other to the limit.
