Biography

Alexander 'Xander' Shakadera, called Kaiza Shakuenji in Japan, is a towering, martial-arts-trained childhood friend of Valt and Shu who leads his own team, the Sword Flames, and is a founding member of the Supreme Four. He later trains in Brazil with SB Rios and joins the Big Five before eventually leading SB Rios into the World League, and resurfaces in QuadStrike as a legendary blader with an upgraded Beyblade. Bombastic, loud-laughing, and deceptively kind despite his intimidating build, he balances comic strength (accidentally breaking doors) with genuine mentorship of teammates like Xavier Bogard.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Xander stands out for his height, close to six feet, with spiked red-orange hair, red eyes, triangular teeth and a muscular build shaped by years of martial arts training; despite looking fully grown, he's actually only eleven, the same age as Valt and Shu. His regular outfit bares his midriff under a tight black top, layered with a red fur-trimmed vest fastened at the bottom, brown trousers striped in red, a yellow belt and black gauntlets. In Turbo the vest gains a brown border and the belt an "X"-marked silver buckle, with yellow wraps added at the ankles of his boots. By QuadStrike the vest carries sienna-coloured trim instead, paired with a sienna belt, a gold "X" pendant and a matching bracelet.

Xander is loud, cheerful and bombastic, a hard trainer with a big appetite who channels his fighting spirit through booming laughter, though he sets the jokes aside entirely once a battle turns genuinely serious. His sense of humour tends toward looking on the bright side of things. The intimidating build belies a genuinely kind and gentle nature, evident when he carries Toko and Nika on his shoulders through a crowd rather than leave them to push through themselves. As leader of the Sword Flames he leads well, praising teammates and rivals alike regardless of who wins. He can also forget his own strength entirely, as when a friendly fist bump knocks Valt clean over.

Quotes

In Their Own Words

  • Uncertainty is kind of a given.
  • Mind if I drop in?
  • It's all making sense now. Valt must be turning the city upside down looking for it.
  • Valt's the wild card in this competition. Come to think of it, he always has been. I know I've won most of the battles we've had, but every once in a while he takes me by surprise, attacking me at an angle I'd never anticipated.
  • Bro, kinda obvious my first name's Alexander. Not exactly a stretch of the imagination.
  • Whoa, dude. Need a time-out?
  • Well, ain't that the truth?
  • You know what this means, don't you? Now you gotta try and defeat all of the Supreme Four.
  • Dig deeper, Valt. I know you've got what it takes to crush him.
  • Well, that's one way to rattle his cage.
