Biography

Tobio Oike, nicknamed Captain Capri, is a self-styled soldier-blader with a signature yellow afro who fought for the Dark Nebula using his sniping Storm Capricorn M145Q. Feared on the streets as an undefeated legend, he lost that reputation when Kyoya Tategami beat him, then later fell to Gingka Hagane despite tactical ricochet attacks like Sniper Shot and Spin Screwdriver, before being drained of energy by Ryuga. He placed a distant tenth in Metal Masters' Japan qualifiers and had a stronger showing in Metal Fury's Destroyer Dome, eliminating two rivals before losing to Tsubasa Otori. He treats every match like a covert military mission.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Tobio is a slim, pale-skinned Japanese boy of average height, known for a yellow afro he keeps carefully combed so it never gets messed up. His brown eyes are visible only on the right side, since his aiming device usually covers the left. He wears a long white-and-black coat done up to the neck with numerous buckles and buttons, black trousers, black shoes, and grey gloves dotted in yellow, along with a matching yellow wristband.

Tobio pursues every target with real persistence, refusing to let up until he's claimed victory. He carries himself with a soldier's mindset, treating each match like an assigned mission he cannot allow himself to fail — at least by his own reckoning.

Capricorn's ricochet sniping made him an unbeaten street legend and still eliminates rivals in Metal Fury, but Kyoya, Gingka and Benkei all break through.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • Launches from a prone sniper position, unusual among Beybladers.
  • One of only two former Dark Nebula bladers (with Ryutaro) to appear across Metal Fusion, Metal Masters, and Metal Fury.
  • His pursuit of Kyoya may stem from mistakenly believing the disbanded Face Hunters gang was still active.
  • Despite vowing a Battle Bladers rematch with Kyoya, he never faces him again, losing instead to Kyoya's ally Benkei in round one.
  • Fans nicknamed the Tobio/Ryutaro/Tetsuya trio 'Death Stream Scissors,' a name later confirmed by series creator Takafumi Adachi.
