Sora Akatsuki is a hot-headed young fan of Gingka Hagane in the Metal Saga who declares himself Gingka's 'Number One Apprentice' after seeing him battle, despite the two having barely spoken. Fighting with Cyber Pegasus, he keeps trying and failing to copy Gingka's signature Starblast Attack until new friend Kenta Yumiya convinces him to find his own style, leading to his working special move, O.V. Drive. He helps Kenta reclaim a stolen neighborhood stadium from bully Busujima, later places seventh in Japan's Metal Masters team selection, and lends power to Gingka's climactic fight against Nemesis.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Sora stands roughly level with Gingka in height, with amber-red eyes and hair in blond-brown tones that spikes upward before falling behind his head. His outfit is a white sleeveless jacket paired with red-and-blue trousers, and he pulls on brown fingerless gloves as part of his gear. A gold belt at his waist carries his Bey, launcher, grip and Beypointer, with the launcher and grip cast in the same red as Cyber Pegasus's fusion wheel.

Sora models himself closely on Gingka, going so far as to call himself his top apprentice, and the two share the same habits of napping through the day, eating enormous amounts and training relentlessly, along with a common sense of fairness. He tries to copy Pegasus's Starblast Attack and usually fails, and his admiration for Gingka leaves him distracted, so he seldom notices what Cyber can do on its own terms. He talks himself up boldly and is quick to feel humiliated when he comes up short. Only after meeting Kenta does he draw out his true ability, and a strong showing among the top competitors in Metal Masters bears out how determined he is to live up to his hero.
