Biography

Lui Shirosagi is the main antagonist of Beyblade Burst's first season and one of the franchise's most decorated Bladers, winning five straight National Championships and ranking among the Supreme Four and Big Five. Aloof, proud, and often cruel, he battles only opponents he judges worthy, having scarred rival Shu Kurenai and dismissed Valt Aoi as weak before growing to respect both. Through Evolution, Turbo, Surge, and QuadDrive he evolves his Lúinor line of Beyblades, alternates between win streaks and rare losses, and slowly softens, forming a genuine partnership with tag-team ally Dante Koryu by Surge.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Pale-skinned, with light-blue and white hair, violet-ringed eyes and sharp teeth, he reworks his outfit every season while keeping a sharp, aristocratic style. In Burst and Evolution, when he is shorter, a long white feather boa reaches his knees over a sky-blue dress shirt with breeches, a dark-purple tie and blue trousers striped in black. Taller by Turbo, he wears a sky-blue shirt trimmed in violet diamonds, dark-blue trousers, a black band across his waist and shoulder, and a long white winter coat in place of the boa. Surge lengthens his hair and brings a teal-blue shirt, looser trousers and a thinner boa, while QuadDrive shifts the palette to dark purple and red, moves his armband to the other arm and adds a yellow earring. Resonating with his Beyblade sets his hair rippling like flame.

Intensity and aggression define him from the start, and real cruelty shows in how he treats Shu Kurenai — scarring his face, breaking his Beyblade, reinjuring his shoulder — enough to earn Shu's lasting hatred. He is sharper than that cruelty suggests, reading opponents well enough to unmask Red Eye mid-battle and to judge whether a Blader has truly bonded with their bey, which is how he praises Gabe Brunai and dismisses Valt as unworthy before Valtryek's real strength ever surfaces. Only rivals he rates as worthy interest him, he says exactly what he thinks of everyone else, and he insists on winning purely by skill, refusing a technical victory and holding to a code against fighting anyone already hurt. A bond with Dante later draws out real warmth, and by Surge the cold edge has largely gone.

Quotes

In Their Own Words

  • Heh. What did you expect? No matter how many times I battle, I win. Doesn't matter who I'm up against.
  • You don't know anything about your own Bey! Can't you see that?!
  • Prepare to meet your destiny.
  • You've got skills. More than most of my opponents. I'll give you credit for making it this far. But this match is going to end just like the last one did.
  • If he isn't scared now, he will be soon enough. I'll make sure of it.
  • Destroy it!
  • Impossible.
  • I only battle opponents I deem worthy. No exceptions!
  • As if I care...
  • You will never in a million years be able to defeat me.
