Biography

Kikura Gen, also known as Gen Kikura, is a minor Shogun Steel antagonist who disguised himself as a seaweed-covered 'Sea Monster' to scare beach litterers at Midsummer Beach, secretly enjoying the fear he caused. Kite Unabara challenged him over his behavior, and after a long stamina standoff Zyro Kurogane exploited Kikura's habit of blurting out his own Beyblade's weakness to beat him with Samurai Ifrit. Humiliated, he later resurfaced in Metal Bey City seeking revenge on Zyro, lost again to Takanosuke Shishiya the same way, and entered Neo Battle Bladers before drifting into Benkei Hanawa's training camp with other defeated bladers.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Dark brown, cocoa-toned skin sits alongside goggles and eyes that resemble Tetsuya Watarigani's. Curly white hair streaked with red, reminiscent of a jellyfish, tops his head, and he pairs a dark green suit and brown shoes with a black, white-striped shirt underneath. At times he swaps in a white sleeveless vest patterned with red and blue, again echoing a jellyfish.

Instability runs through Kikura much as it does through Tetsuya, and a backstory sits behind both his choices and his motives. He carries a habit of blurting out sensitive details, his Bey's weaknesses included, straight to opponents, and rarely notices the slip until it has already cost him the match.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • His name plays on 'kuraaken,' the Japanese pronunciation of 'kraken.'
  • The kanji in his surname can mean 'tree,' tying into his environmentalist backstory.
  • Fans consider him a comedic counterpart to Tetsuya Watarigani, since both are animal-themed characters whose backstory explains villainous behavior.
  • In the manga he only appears briefly during Neo Battle Bladers before being eliminated.
  • His disguise routine began as genuine environmental activism before he started enjoying scaring people for its own sake.
