Biography

Katana Sakaki is a loyal, level-headed member of Team Rideout in Beyblade Burst, easily recognized by his green motorcycle goggles perched on his head. Deeply respectful of leader Gabe Brunai and quietly supportive of teammates, he keeps his pride in check, acknowledging that none of Rideout can yet match star teammate Lui Shirosagi despite the hurt Lui's constant put-downs cause the team. He admires elite Blader Shu Kurenai from a distance and reads social situations well, notably talking hotheaded newcomer Kyo Sandai out of provoking the crowd during Ken Midori's emotional match against Lui.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Standing average in height, Katana wears his mahogany-brown hair flared out at the sides, above a pair of deep teal eyes. His usual outfit is a white shirt with one sleeve rolled up, casually ripped blue trousers, a brown leather arm-guard and a matching back-guard, finished with dark gold heeled boots. Shaded green motorcycle goggles, most often pushed up onto his head, are his most recognisable feature.

Serious and self-assured, Katana holds his ground with unshaken determination even against Zac of the Supreme Four. He works hard to please Gabe Brunai, Rideout's level-headed leader, and follows his calls without question, though he can be swayed easily — Lui Shirosagi's dismissal of the whole team leaves him visibly disheartened, and he admits to hating how far Rideout had sunk. Even so, he knows when to hold his tongue, as when he talks the hotheaded Kyo Sandai out of cheering louder for Lui during Ken Midori's match. He is also willing to set his pride aside, agreeing with Gabe that Lui's championship record puts him out of the team's reach.

  • Katana is a very rare real Japanese given name, combining characters for 'one-sided' and 'edge'.
  • His surname Sakaki may derive from a Nagano town or the sakaki (Cleyera japonica) flower.
