Echizen

Biography

Echizen is a minor Metal Saga character introduced in a Metal Fusion flashback as Tetsuya Watarigani's childhood best friend. Once considered the best blader in their village, he freezes up when a bully named Taraba challenges him, prompting Tetsuya to fight in his place and lose. Echizen then abandons Tetsuya to Taraba's crab-based retaliation, an act of cowardice that permanently sours their friendship and pushes Tetsuya toward his obsessive, crab-themed persona. Echizen later reappears briefly in the crowd celebrating Gingka's final victory over Ryuga.

Kindness and respect come naturally to Echizen, qualities he extends especially to his once-closest friend, Tetsuya Watarigani. Talent backs up that warmth — he's regarded as a powerful blader and the strongest in his home village. Underneath that, though, sits real cowardice: he flinches at the mere sight of Taraba and bolts in fear once Tetsuya falls to him in battle.
