Biography

Akira Yamatoga, known as Akira Yamabuki in Japan, is a flashy pop-idol-styled blader appearing in Beyblade Burst who challenges fellow idol Zac in the quarterfinals with his Atlas Anubion Yell Orbit. Confident and showy, complete with raps and backflip entrances, Akira initially believes he can dethrone Zac as the world's most famous popstar-blader, but loses and instead decides to look up to Zac for inspiration. Their rivalry evolves into mutual respect, and Akira later returns Zac's Zeutron Bey after holding onto it during Zac's temporary retirement from Beyblade.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Short in stature but full of energy, Akira has light-toned skin, messy pink hair and magenta eyes that read darker than his hair. His look leans androgynous, set on an athletic, agile frame. An orange-and-white pin-striped vest sits over a yellow V-neck shirt with blue-trimmed sleeves, and a long scarf in matching blue-striped colouring wraps his neck. Casual brown trousers, olive knee-high boots, black fingerless gloves and striped white socks complete the outfit.

Fame suits Akira, and like Zac he thrives as an idol adored by fans, always chasing the perfect moment in the spotlight. He is cheerful and outgoing but carries a competitive streak and a genuine fighting spirit, and once he has tasted stardom he insists he could never return to ordinary life. Early on he assumes he can overtake Zac's standing as the world's most famous pop star, though he is honest enough to admit when he has overreached. Losing to Zac in the quarterfinals prompts him to treat his rival as inspiration instead of a target and rebuild his career more patiently. Off the battlefield he is a skilled rapper who loves performing for a crowd, light on his feet and capable of chaining backflips together.
